A trailer that noses down or tails up does not track straight, brakes unevenly and wears its tires on one edge. The ball mount is what fixes that, and drop or rise is the measurement that matters.
Measure from the ground to the top of the coupler with the trailer level, then from the ground to the top of the receiver opening. The difference is the drop or rise you need. An adjustable ball mount covers a range and suits anyone towing more than one trailer. Ball diameter must match the coupler exactly — a coupler on the wrong ball can unlatch under load.
