F-250 Super Duty shocks: matching damper to lift

The reason is mechanical rather than commercial. A shock absorber has a fixed stroke; fit a stock-length one to a raised truck and the suspension reaches the end of the damper before it reaches the end of the spring, which is hard on the mounts and harder on the ride. The solid front axle also brings a steering stabilizer into the picture, damping the linkage rather than the wheel travel.
