Headlights: the housing decides the beam, not the bulb
Dropping an LED bulb into a headlight housing designed for halogen produces glare, not vision. The reflector was cut for a filament in a specific position; a different light source scatters where it should focus, blinding oncoming traffic while lighting the road no better.
A projector housing controls the beam with a lens and a cutoff shield, which is why LED and HID belong there. Sealed LED headlights replace the whole assembly and are the honest upgrade. Color temperature is preference up to a point — beyond about 5000K, output in rain and fog gets worse rather than better.

DOT compliance and aim
Anything forward-facing on a public road needs to be DOT-compliant, and a housing that is not will fail inspection regardless of how well it works. Check that before ordering.
Aim matters as much as the light itself. A correctly aimed halogen out-performs a badly aimed LED and does not dazzle anyone. Re-aim after any lift, since raising the truck points the beam further down the road than it should go. We stock 125 headlight parts from 6 brands.
