Mud flaps: cheap insurance for your paint and everyone behind you

Bigger tires throw stones, and they throw them at your own rocker panels, at the leading edge of your trailer, and at whoever is following. Mud flaps are the least glamorous purchase on this site and among the highest returns per dollar.

They are also a legal requirement for many vehicles in many states, particularly anything towing. Rubber flaps are the durable default. Molded vehicle-specific flaps follow the fender line and look factory. Universal flaps are cheaper and need trimming to clear a lifted stance without dragging.

Clearance, flares and mounting

A flap that hangs too low catches on ramps and rocks; one that is too short does not do the job. Lifted trucks with large tires need flaps sized for the stance rather than for the factory arch.

Fender flares change where the flap mounts, and many flare kits include their own provision or exclude flaps entirely. Check the two together rather than separately. We stock 5 mud flap parts from 1 brand.
