Ram 1500 intakes: sealed box, filter media, CARB status
A cold air intake swaps the factory airbox and inlet tubing for a larger filter and a straighter path to the throttle body. The choice on a Ram 1500 comes down to two things: whether the filter sits in a sealed box drawing from outside the engine bay or behind a heat shield inside it, and whether the media is oiled cotton, which is cleaned and re-oiled, or dry, which is rinsed.
The thing to check before ordering is emissions. Several of these are listed by the manufacturer as not exempt under California Air Resources Board rules, which makes them off-road use in that state whatever the truck is registered as elsewhere. Every intake here carries its own status beside the engines and years it fits, and the heat shield and replacement air filter are listed separately. That comes to 24 intakes.
