Steering stabilizers: what they fix and what they hide
A steering stabilizer is a damper on the steering linkage. It calms the shimmy that bigger tires and a lift introduce, and it takes the edge off bump-steer on a solid front axle.
What it will not do is fix worn components. Death wobble comes from play (a tired track bar, loose ball joints, a worn drag link) and a stabilizer masks the symptom while the cause gets worse. Fit one to a healthy front end and it is a genuine improvement. Fit one to a loose front end and you have bought yourself silence, not safety. Dual stabilizers double the damping for heavy tires.

Diagnose before you damp
Before buying, have someone rock the wheel while you watch the linkage for movement at the joints. Any visible play should be replaced first: the stabilizer goes on afterwards, not instead.
