TPMS sensors: new wheels usually need new sensors
Fit aftermarket wheels and the tire pressure warning light usually comes on and stays on. The TPMS sensor lives inside the wheel, and the ones in your old wheels either did not come across or will not seat properly in the new ones.
Sensors are also a wear item — the battery is sealed in and lasts somewhere between five and ten years, after which the sensor is replaced rather than serviced. Programmable sensors can be configured to match most vehicles, which is why they have largely replaced buying a specific part number for every make.
