Colorado shocks: a mid-size truck rides on these
A Colorado is light enough that the shock absorber (or the front strut, depending on the year) has a bigger say in how it feels than it would on a full-size truck. There is less mass to settle the suspension down, so an under-damped unit lets the body move about and an over-damped one is felt at every joint in the road.
Construction is the honest way to compare. Twin-tube shocks are the affordable default and are perfectly good until they are worked hard, at which point the oil aerates and the damping fades. Monotubes hold up better and cost more for it. Height matters too (a truck that has been leveled wants a longer damper) so the listings quote a ride height range alongside the years and drivetrains. Rear shocks are sold separately from fronts. That is 28 items in all.
