Tahoe shocks: the self-leveling rear is the catch
Before buying Tahoe shocks, look at what is on the back of the vehicle. Many were built with a self-leveling rear system that uses air-assisted dampers and a small compressor, and a conventional shock absorber will bolt in happily while leaving that system with nothing to inflate. Converting to passive dampers is a legitimate and common choice — it should just be a decision rather than an accident.
At the front the arrangement is independent, so the damper controls a lighter and quicker movement than a pickup's rear axle and comfort is more of the point. Higher trims can also carry electronically adjustable damping, excluded by name on the listings that cannot work with it. Every item here states the years, the position and the suspension it suits, and front shocks and rear shocks are sold separately. That is 27 items in all.
