Ram 1500 shocks for the Dodge-era half-tons
Across these years the Ram 1500 ran independent front suspension while the heavy-duty trucks kept a solid axle, and that is the line to stay on the right side of when buying shocks. Mounts differ, lengths differ, and a damper listed for a 2500 of the same year is not a substitute even where a catalog puts them side by side.
The later trucks in this range brought a coil-sprung rear axle, which asks more of the rear shock absorber than a leaf pack does. Leaves damp themselves a little through friction, coils do not. Past that it is ride height. A unit built for a stock truck runs out of stroke on a lifted one, so the listings quote the range each suits as well as the years, cabs and drivetrains. Front shocks and rear shocks are sold on their own. That is 88 items in all.
