F-150 exhaust: what the V6 and the V8 each give back
What an exhaust system gives you on an F-150 depends more on the engine than on the pipe. The turbocharged V6 does a great deal of its own silencing before the gas ever reaches the muffler, so a cat-back on one of those shifts the tone more than the volume. The same system behind the V8 is a much louder proposition, and that is the thing to be certain about before it is bolted on.
Fitment here is decided by the cab and the bed. The tailpipe section is cut for a wheelbase, so a crew cab with the standard bed can need an adapter that a short-bed truck does not, and the manufacturer says which. Tremor and some appearance packages are excluded outright. Every system here names the cab, bed and engine it fits, and axle-back sections, mufflers and tips are listed on their own where the manufacturer sells them that way. The list comes to 38 systems.
