Front bumpers: winch mount, approach angle, or both
A front bumper replacement buys three things the factory part cannot offer: somewhere to mount a winch, a better approach angle, and rated recovery points where you can reach them.
Full-width bumpers keep the factory footprint and the most protection. Stubby bumpers cut back to the frame rails for maximum tire clearance at the corners, which is what a rock crawler wants and a highway truck does not need. Bull bars and pre-runner hoops add frontal protection above the bumper line. Weight is the trade in every case, and it all lands on the front axle.

Sensors, lights and what it does to the springs
A truck with parking sensors, adaptive cruise or a forward camera needs a bumper designed to relocate them rather than one that buries them. Fog light provision is the same question — some bumpers carry the factory lights across, some expect aftermarket pods, some leave holes.
Several hundred pounds on the front axle will change ride height and may need the springs addressed. We stock 89 front bumper parts from 5 brands.
