It installs without disassembling or compressing the factory struts, using the original mounting locations.
Toyota fitted two very different rear damping systems to this generation, and that is what decides this part number: it is built for the X-REAS setup, while a 4Runner without it takes a different kit. KDSS-equipped and TRD Pro trucks are outside its scope entirely. The lift itself is undemanding — it uses the factory mounting locations, needs no cutting or drilling, and does not require the struts to be disassembled or compressed, which is the step that usually sends this job to a shop.
