Switches, harnesses and relays: the half nobody budgets for

Every auxiliary light needs three things beyond the light itself: a relay so the switch is not carrying the current, a fuse sized to the load, and a switch that does not backfeed the ignition when the light is off.

Wiring a bar straight to a switch on a dashboard is how people melt looms. The relay lets a small trigger wire control a heavy circuit, and it is the single component that separates a safe install from a fire risk. Switch panels put several circuits in one place and label them, which matters at night with cold hands more than it does in a driveway.

Fuse sizing and where the ground goes

Fuse to the wire, not to the light. An undersized wire on an oversized fuse is the actual failure mode, and it fails as heat rather than as a blown fuse.

Grounds are the other half of every intermittent lighting fault: a ground to painted sheet metal works until it corrodes. Take it to a bare, bolted point. Most of this fits by dimension and circuit rather than by vehicle. We stock 58 wiring and switch parts from 5 brands.
