Finish is the whole difference. This is the black-coated version of Borla's S-Type system for the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 of 2014 to 2018, and the uncoated equivalent carries the same fitment table under its own number. On a truck where the rear section is visible below the bumper, that is a styling decision rather than a technical one. It remains a cat-back, so the catalytic converter stays in place.
