Exhaust systems: sound first, power second
Be honest about why you are buying an exhaust system. On most trucks the power gain is modest; the change in character is immediate and is what you actually paid for.
Cat-back is the common choice: everything behind the catalytic converter, legal essentially everywhere, and the section that determines the note. Axle-back is shorter, cheaper and changes tone with little else. Header-back is the biggest job and the one with the most compliance implications. Straight-through mufflers are loudest, chambered are the most tolerable at cruise, and stainless costs more than aluminized because it is still there in six years.

Drone, legality and towing
Drone is the resonance that arrives at exactly the highway speed you spend your life at, and it is the single most common regret with a loud system. Read what people say about the note at cruise, not at wide-open throttle.
Anything upstream of the catalytic converter has emissions consequences that vary by state. If you tow, a system that scavenges well at low rpm is worth more than one that sounds impressive empty. We stock 325 exhaust parts from 3 brands, matched to engine and model year.
