Choosing a strut
Ram 2500 shocks, and the shake a damper cannot fix
These Ram 2500 trucks run a solid front axle, and solid axles have a well-known habit: hit a bump at the wrong speed with worn linkage and the front wheels can set up a shake that will not settle on its own. Worth saying plainly that shocks are not the cure for that. They control the ride; the shake lives in the track bar, the tie rod ends and the ball joints.
What the dampers do decide is how the truck rides loaded and empty, which on a three-quarter-ton is a wide gap. Firm enough for a loaded bed is firm on the way home empty, and that trade is what separates one unit here from another. A steering stabilizer is the part that damps the linkage, a companion rather than a substitute. Every item here names the years, drivetrain and ride height it suits, and front shocks and rears are listed on their own. That comes to 55 items.
