Drivetrain: what a lift does downstream
Lift a truck and the driveline angles change. On a solid-axle vehicle the front driveshaft steepens, on an independent front end the CV joints run at an angle they were not drawn for, and on a lifted rear the pinion angle moves. None of it is dramatic at two inches and all of it matters at six.
Locking hubs disconnect the front axle shafts so they stop spinning in two-wheel drive, which is quieter and cheaper on fuel. Slip yoke eliminators, transfer case drops and shims are the parts that make a lifted driveline behave — vibration is the symptom, angle is the cause.

Vibration is a symptom, not a part
A driveline vibration that appears after a lift is geometry, not a defective part, and it is usually fixed with a shim, a transfer case drop or a longer shaft rather than by replacing what is already there.
