About this part
Transfer Case Drop Kit, fitment-checked
A transfer case drop kit for the 1984-2001 Jeep Cherokee 4WD and 1986-1992 Jeep Comanche 4WD (Rough Country 1072). Lowering the case brings the rear driveshaft back toward a workable operating angle after a lift, which is what quiets the driveline vibration a taller stance introduces. Bolt-on install; Rough Country lists 2-3 hours.
This drop kit covers 4WD Cherokee models from Base through Limited across the 1984-2001 range, plus Comanche trims from Base to XLS built 1986-1992. Lifting either rig steepens the angle the rear driveshaft has to work through; spacing the transfer case down at its crossmember pulls that angle back toward stock and takes the buzz out of the driveline. Everything bolts on, and Rough Country puts the job at 2-3 hours. A downloadable step-by-step installation guide is available.
