Wrangler JK shocks: the year both Jeeps were sold
The Wrangler JK is the generation before the current one, and for a period both were built and sold at the same time, which is why a Jeep of that model year can be either, and why the badge on the tailgate is not enough to order from. Settle which one you have before buying shocks or springs, because mounts and lengths do not carry across.
Once that is done the JK behaves like the solid-axle Jeep it is. The shock absorber is chosen by ride height rather than by year: a damper built for a stock Jeep runs out of travel on a lifted one, and the listings quote the lift range each unit suits. Long travel means the damper works hard at full articulation, so one that is too short becomes the limit rather than the control. A steering stabilizer handles the linkage separately, and front shocks and rears are listed on their own. That is 29 items in all.
