This high clearance skid plate for the 1997-2006 Jeep Wrangler 4WD covers SE, Sport, Sahara, X, Unlimited, and 65th Anniversary Edition trims. The 0.25in steel plate bolts into place and recovers up to 2in of clearance under the transfer case. Plan the supporting parts first: non-Rubicon Jeeps need a slip-yoke eliminator and a lengthened rear CV driveshaft, plus the 1.25in body lift (#1157) and the 1in motor mount kit (#1156). Rubicon models and 4.0L 6-cylinder automatics are excluded. Rough Country lists 3-4 hours for the job, and a downloadable installation guide is available.
