A swing-out clears the tailgate and keeps the bed free, at the cost of a hinge and latch that need maintaining or they rattle. A bed mount is simpler and permanently occupies bed space. Either way, check the carrier's rated tire size and weight against the spare you actually run rather than the one the truck was sold with.
