Silverado 1500 lift kits: torsion bars, coilovers, ride control
Which lift kit fits a Silverado 1500 depends on the front suspension it was built with. The older four-wheel-drive trucks carry torsion bars, where a leveling kit is a matter of re-indexing the keys and the parts stay simple. The later trucks moved to a front coilover, where the height comes from a spring or a complete strut and the job gets more involved.
Two things catch buyers on this truck. Models with Adaptive Ride Control are excluded outright by a good number of kits, and Trail Boss and AT4 trucks already left the factory raised, so a 2 inch kit does less on one of those than the box implies. Past that, a 6 inch kit is real suspension work — upper control arms, a crossmember and longer shocks — rather than an afternoon. Every kit here prints its own exclusions on the product page.
