Leveling kits: the small lift that fixes factory rake
Most trucks leave the factory nose-down so the rear does not squat under load. A leveling kit raises the front an inch or two to match the rear, which is what people actually mean when they say a truck looks right.
It is the cheapest way to clear a slightly larger tire, and it is not a suspension lift. A strut spacer or a torsion key changes ride height without changing spring rate or damping, so the ride stays close to stock while the front suspension works nearer the end of its travel. That is a fair trade at two inches and a poor one at four.

What leveling does to ride and alignment
Leveling reduces down-travel and steepens the CV angle on independent front suspension, which is why manufacturers publish a maximum and why exceeding it wears half-shafts. An alignment afterwards is not optional — caster and camber both move.
