Ram 2500 lift kits and the weight over the front axle

A Ram 2500 lifts differently from the half-ton because of what sits over the front axle. The four-wheel-drive trucks run a solid front axle on coil springs, the diesel is heavy, and a lift kit has to hold ride height under that load rather than simply establish it. Springs rated for a gas truck settle on a diesel and give the lift back within a season.

The rest follows from that. Track bar correction matters as soon as the axle moves, a steering stabilizer earns its place on a front end this heavy, and trucks built with factory air suspension are excluded by most kits outright.
