Lift kits: inches are the easy part
Everyone shops for a lift kit by the number of inches. The inches are the least interesting part of the decision. What separates one kit from another is what it does to the geometry: a spacer lift raises ride height and leaves the suspension working at a new angle, while a full suspension lift replaces the springs and shocks and re-establishes the angles properly.
Both get a bigger tire under the truck. Only one changes how it rides. Past about three inches you will also need control arms, a corrected track bar and often a driveshaft, because the factory parts run out of travel before your new springs do.

What a lift kit does to the rest of the truck
Lifting changes speedometer calibration, headlight aim, driveline angle and brake line length, and it moves the center of gravity up. None of that is a reason not to do it, but all of it is a reason to buy the kit that includes the correction parts rather than the one that is cheapest per inch.
