A lift decides how tall the truck sits. The shock absorber decides what it feels like to drive. It is the single part most owners underspend on and the one they notice every day.
Twin-tube shocks are the affordable, comfortable default and they fade when worked hard. Monotube shocks run cooler and stay consistent on washboard, which is why they cost more. A remote reservoir adds oil volume and heat capacity for sustained high-speed work — genuinely useful in the desert, largely wasted commuting. Adjustable damping lets you tune between loaded and empty, which matters more on a work truck than any badge on the body.

Shock length, mounts and buying in sets
Extended and collapsed length must suit your ride height, not the height the truck left the factory at — a lifted truck on stock-length shocks will top out and destroy them. Mount style matters too: eye, stud and bar-pin are not interchangeable.
Replace in axle pairs at minimum, and ideally in fours. A new shock on one corner and a worn one on the other makes a truck behave worse than four tired ones. We stock 1,451 shock and strut parts from 6 brands, with exclusions published on each product page.
